The Talbot marquewas used by a number of companies having had its roots in the Sunbeam motor company.Cars in the 1970s and 80s included the Horizon saloon, Solara SX and the Samba Cabrio.The Talbot Simca 1100 was one of the earlier models to reach mass appeal, availablein 3 and 5door versions, hatchback, estate and even van. It was a front-wheel drive car, popular at the time for producing a nimble driving experience as well as offering more space.The Talbot Horizon replaced the 1100. It was badged up as a Chrysler tobegin with but then just known as the “Talbot” when the name was dropped.Designed for drivers on both sides of the Atlantic, it gained high praise for its driveability.Larger family cars soon became more common, and so the Alpine was launched.
